John Frank, PhD, Director of Professional Development

John oversees the development of coaching resources and promotes quality control among coaches and supervisors through the use of data tracking and analysis.

John has served as a coach, supervisor, and an intake coordinator for Beyond BookSmart. In addition to coaching and tutoring before joining our team, John graduated from the Counseling Psychology doctoral program at New York University and completed his Internship in Clinical Psychology at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. John has previously taught undergraduate courses at New York University on the psychology of human learning, group dynamics, and abnormal psychology. During his training as a counseling psychologist, John treated children, adolescents, and young adults in hospitals, substance abuse clinics, college counseling centers, and community mental health clinics. These various roles have afforded John the opportunity to have experience with crisis management for individuals (and their families) at risk for substance abuse, self-harm, and suicidal behavior. Throughout his career, John has been consistently reminded of the value of empathy and understanding in helping young people overcome obstacles.

Lisa Cambra, Human Resources Manager

Lisa brings a wealth of Human Resources experience to her role at Beyond BookSmart, where she is dedicated to addressing the needs of each staff member.

Human Resources Manager Lisa Cambra has 15 years of expertise in strategic human resource practices and operational leadership. Lisa’s experience includes talent acquisition, organizational development, performance management, and compensation and benefits. Prior to joining Beyond BookSmart, Lisa worked for a successful Boston design/build firm as the Director of Operations and Human Resources for ten years, where she was responsible for attracting the right candidates for various roles, coaching and development of employees, compliance, and culture development. Lisa earned a degree in Business Administration and has been a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) since 2017.

Tricia Butler, Operations Manager

Tricia is the hub of Beyond BookSmart, overseeing processes including helping families learn more about coaching and connecting new clients with our coaches.

As Operations Manager for Beyond BookSmart, Tricia Butler fields customer outreach and is a key support and point of contact for families throughout the client inquiry and start-up process as well as for Intake Coordinators, coaches, and supervisors. Tricia supports the Chief Operations Officer in recruiting and hiring new Executive Function coaches. In her spare time, Tricia volunteers on the Board of Directors and as Transport Coordinator for Animal Rescue Front, a dog rescue organization in MA.

Annabel Furber, Lead Research Coordinator

Annabel leads our research initiatives into the efficacy of Executive Function coaching. Additionally, she designs and implements our online coach training.

Annabel Furber is the Lead Research Coordinator for Beyond BookSmart. She also supervises coaches, providing support to ensure quality and consistency in our coaching. Annabel has a background in special education, psychology, and neuroscience. She has experience in both educational practices and educational research and possesses a Master’s degree in the field of Mind, Brain, and Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education. Annabel believes in Neurodiversity—that each mind is as unique as a thumbprint and no single approach to teaching is useful for all—and that learning challenges often accompany unique skills and talents that require an understanding of the impact of context, motivation, and personal goals. Annabel also serves as an instructor for CAST (Center for Applied Special Technologies) through the Mass Focus program, a graduate course aimed to instruct teachers on how to Universally Design for Learning (UDL).

Jackie Reilly, Operations Team Coordinator

As part of our Operations Team, Jackie works with our Coaching Coordinators and Intake Coordinators in finding the best coaching support to meet our clients' needs.

Jacqueline Reilly earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors at St. Bonaventure University and continued her education at the College of Saint Rose where she conducted research on collaborative assessment with speech-language pathologists and theories of intellectual ability. Within Beyond BookSmart, Jackie serves as a coach, supervisor, intake coordinator, hiring assistant, and Operations Coordinator. Credentialed as a nationally certified school psychologist, Jackie has experience working with students of all ages in both public and private settings, from preschool up through college-aged adults. In addition to her work as a school psychologist, Jackie volunteered weekly as a counselor with Crisis Text Line.

Melissa helps families learn more about coaching and connects new clients with their coaches.

Melissa Bronstein serves as a coach, intake coordinator and Assistant Operations Manager within Beyond Booksmart. Melissa holds a BA in Gender and Sexuality Studies from Tulane University and an MSW in Advanced Clinical Practice from Columbia University School of Social Work. Credentialed as a LICSW, Melissa has experience working with students of all ages, with a particular interest and expertise in working with adolescents and young adults navigating life transitions. She is passionate about using strengths-based approaches that empower young people to remove obstacles and reach their goals.
