Training for School Leaders, Teachers, Students, and Families in Executive Functioning

Our philosophy

By training not only teachers but also school leaders and families, together we improve the whole ecosystem in which a student learns.

By engaging and educating the students themselves, we guide students to be able to lead themselves today - and perhaps others tomorrow.

  • Leadership Coaching: 1:1 or small group coaching sessions for school leaders
  • Personalized Training: Customized staff training sessions
  • Ongoing Training and Support: Training packages designed with the I do, We do, You do model

Our team

MichaelDelman-1

Michael Delman, CEO

Michael Delman grew up with the privilege of attending excellent schools but without the benefit of intrinsically excellent Executive Function skills. In the 1970's and 1980's, teachers were not particularly aware of what these skills were, why they mattered, and how to teach them. Michael's mission is to provide others with the tools and strategies that he had to figure out for himself. An author who has won a number of education awards, Michael taught for eight years before founding and serving as the principal of the Christa McAuliffe Charter School. He has served as CEO of Beyond BookSmart, the world's largest Executive Function coaching company, for the past 16 years.

Susan Lohman, Director of New Programming

Susan Lohman brings 20 years of experience in traditional and online education, instructional coaching, staff development, and asynchronous training design. Throughout her career in the education industry, she continually crossed paths with both students and professionals who were struggling to manage their lives because of Executive Function challenges. Because of her love for teaching and learning, she is inspired to share the tools and strategies that she herself uses on a daily basis to help clients develop new, more successful habits. Susan serves as the Director of EF SchoolSmart.

What School Professionals Say

“The workshop was amazing! My fifth-grade students were so engaged and asked many questions at the end. As a teacher, I also learned about strategies that I can use with my students with time management and Executive Functioning. The presenters were very grade-appropriate and knowledgeable. They were able to answer all questions asked. I feel that we greatly benefited from the executive functioning workshop and presentation!”
